ASSESSMENT
I have included a SAMPLE GRADING RUBRIC to demonstrate my systematic and transparent approach to grading.
This rubric delineates the evaluation standards for the final paper in my course on Sequelae of Trauma. The final paper is a 10-15 page, self-directed literature review on an approved trauma-related topic of the student’s choice. Earlier in the semester, the student will have created an annotated bibliography of 10-15 empirical articles on their topic, which can be used to write the paper.
The same grading rubric is used for the first draft (10% of the final grade) and for the final paper submission (30%). The rubric outlines expectations, and because it is used twice, provides the student direct feedback on their work to allow for edits. Through this assignment, students learn about the processes, format, and expectations of conducting a social science literature review, and demonstrate their own investigation into and ideas about a trauma topic. They will present their work to the class at the close of the semester.
