CLINICAL PATH
During my early college career, as an engineering major, I worked at a women's center as a para-professional counselor. I worked with victims of partner violence and child maltreatment. This experience had a profound impact on me and caused me to change my major to psychology. I obtained my first Master's Degree in 2002, and my License (LPC) in 2004. Over the years, I worked in a variety of settings including outpatient services, community agencies, a secure juvenile residential facility, schools, inpatient psychiatric units, a crisis center, and a private practice. The majority of my work has been related to trauma, and I was greatly influenced by my clinical crisis center experiences with the September 11th attacks and the Washington DC sniper incident. I also have experience working on a mobile crisis unit in collaboration with law enforcement to evaluate persons in crisis, potentially of imminent danger to self or others. I draw inspiration from past clinical experiences, and have become a researcher in order to influence policy and practice.
CLINICAL EXPERTISE
I am not practicing at this time, due to the demands of my dual program of full-time employment doctoral study. I plan to practice in a limited capacity again in the future, after I have established my research program and attained tenure.
